The Golden Threads of Motherhood

With Australia’s celebration of Mothers Day on Sunday, my thoughts naturally turned to the memories of my mum and as with most days, I wish she was still here with me. She was the glue that held the family together, particularly after Dad passed away some 28 years before she went to join him. It’s amazing how much I become her, the older I get!

My thoughts also call up the memories of my time with my girls when they were little and developing personalities of their own as well as currently. I also think of my other daughter who was raised by other loving parents and of the times she experienced that I wasn’t able to be a part of. (refer: Children of Change: A Memoir)

Despite the hiccups along the way, my three awesome daughters have grown into beautiful, honest, hard-working adults with much integrity and a strong sense of knowing where they belong in the world. I couldn’t be prouder. It was a long hard journey at times, but I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.

Love- sheer uncompromising love is the golden thread that binds us, long after we have left this life.

Happy Mothers Day !
