In the Beginning.......

Mount Morgan was in high summer, so I headed off to the local pool as usual only to find that there was a competition on and the pool was closed for casual use. As I sat in the grandstand, disgruntled and despondent, the lessee asked if I could swim a lap. My "of course I can" led to the start of a very successful and a very happy six year swimming career.

Attached are photos of my first two gold medals (backstroke and breastroke)in the Central Qld Championships in 1960- aged 11 years old-just two months after I had started training.
